"Entrepreneurship Field Trip"

On this field trip, students will see if they have what it takes to start their own aquaponics business! The trip will start with an overview of what aquaponics is and how it works. Students will be led on a tour of Waiahole Nursery’s aquaponics system and learn about our mission and history as a small business. Students will then act as entrepreneurs themselves - the assignment will be to form a team and create a business model that can turn a profit from an at-home aquaponics system. One of our trained staff educators will guide them along the way, as well as present them with unexpected real-life scenarios that may affect their businesses. Teams will use their creativity and artistic ability to design an advertisement to attract more potential customers. At the end, the class can pool their profits and trade them in for a sweet snack from our bistro!
