The Waiahole Nursery and Garden Center’s Aquaponic farm is located in Kaneohe on Oahu in Hawaii. Our Aquaponic farm is a commercial farm specializing in leafy greens and herbs. The aquaponic farm is dedicated to spreading sustainable agriculture in our island community, and would love to help you get started in aquaponic farming. What Is Aquaponics?

What Is Aqauponics?
Aquaponics takes the concept of hydroponic farming, raising fish, in a single integrated system.  The waste from the fish provides an organic food source for the growing plants, which eliminates the need for chemical nutrient additives.
Aquaponics combines the benefits of the two disciplines while eliminating the drawbacks of each.  It can produce twenty times the yield of soil farming per square foot while using a small fraction of the water.  Aquaponic farming can be done anywhere, and eliminates many of the chores of a traditional garden.  It is the perfect option for a Do It Yourself (DIY) gardener looking to grow healthy and sustainable vegetables and fish. In the long term, aquaponic systems will produce a higher yield with less maintenance.  They only require inexpensive fish food instead of chemical nutrients, and are therefore more organic.  Aquaponic systems can take 3-6 months to get going.
We are dedicated to spreading aquaponic and sustainable agriculture in our community and would love to help you get started!   If you are new to aquaponics or hydroponics, we highly encourage you to come take a tour or sign up for an Aquaponic Seminars. Aquaponic backyard systems  include fish, Fox Farm products, training, and support are here to get you started. Call today for cost and availability.
